- If you haven’t already, check out the 30th Anniversary Calendar. April features a photo submitted by Specialist Wendy Coulson. Here is the story behind Wendy’s photo:
In 2020, Wendy Coulson spent several months as a Specialist delivering teacher training webinars to public school teachers in Mexico on virtual teaching strategies.
The COVID situation was terrible in Mexico as everything was shut down without much government support for families or businesses. Schools were shuttered (and remain that way), and most children could not access distance learning. Therefore, I was overjoyed when I learned that I was offered the project to work in my adopted country, able to do something about the situation. I had been searching for a way to contribute to education in Mexico for years.
For this project, I worked with two amazing Specialists, Cindy Spoon and Heather Gaddis, and the amazing RELO Mexico staff on 12 webinars aimed at helping teachers get more comfortable with distance learning. In fact, in the photo, I’m speaking with Heather, who also lives in Mexico, about the next session. Since it was summer, my dog is taking advantage of the cool tile floor to sleep on while I work barefooted.”
