Guatemalans are generally very welcoming and friendly. The collectivist culture makes it easy for foreigners to feel included in daily life related to work and family. There are many safe and attractive options for travel in Guatemala, including the Atitlán Lake area. Sololá is located near Atitlan Lake; as such, infrastructure for visitors is good. However, Guatemala remains at a critical threat level for crime, and security precautions must be taken. Solola is located near a major tourist destination and as such infrastructure for visitors is good.
