Brooke Leach Grable

Brooke Leach Grable had been teaching K-8 in Ohio for seven years when she realized she wanted another experience teaching abroad (she’d taught in China right after graduation). After researching her district’s ‘Taking Leave’ policy and chatting with her school’s superintendent, Leach Grable saw that it was possible to take a two-year sabbatical from her school and soon she was off to Pristina, Kosovo, as an English Language Fellow.

Leach Grable was selected for a project at the University of Pristina, where she taught future teachers TESOL methods and best practices, in addition to providing workshops throughout Kosovo on TEYL (Teaching English to Younger Learners). Leach Grable also found herself involved in several literature projects, from starting a new book club to initiating a ‘Read Together’ project to train teachers on using children’s literature in the classroom. When she returns to the States next year, Leach Grable is looking forward to exploring the opportunity to work with university students, in addition to continuing her career in K-12.
