Fellow Conducts Business English Seminar “Talking on the Telephone” in Istanbul

English Language Fellow Karen Vaucrosson designed and piloted a 35-minute Business English workshop, “Talking on the Telephone” with 9 high school graduates. The participants are enrolled in a university entrance preparatory course at Uzman Kariyer Dershanesi in Istanbul.

The workshop included role plays and a hot-seat activity that focused on telephone, basics which served to build confidence, improve active listening, and develop phone automaticity in a professional setting. Vaucrosson presented the same workshop a few weeks later due to the high demand.

Students found this workshop very helpful due to the fact that telephone skills aren’t usually taught in school, specifically in English telephone skills. This workshop served as preparation for students who want to go into business internationally, where they will most likely speak in English.
