Fellow Conducts Workshop on Research in the English Language Classroom

English Language Fellow Fabio Coelho presented at a local workshop on professional development at the Universitas Negeri Semarang(UNNES) in Indonesia. Every year for the past three years, the University has hosted different Fellows at these workshops aimed to help local in-service teachers in Central Java.

Beforehand, teachers suggested topics for the workshop and for this event they chose “Research in the English Language Classroom.” There were over 70 participants in attendance, ranging from English language teachers to master’s degree students from the English language program at UNNES. Coelho focused the workshop on identifying research problems, writing research questions, collecting data, and planning interventions.

The workshop was well received, and teachers eagerly requested more development workshops to be done in the future. They were happy to have the chance to network with other teachers and foster their professional development.
