Fellow hits the road with American Corner Caravan

English Language Fellow Andrew Shannon participated in American Corner’s Caravan in Kyrgyzstan. The AC Caravan traveled to the villages of Daroot-Korgon in Chong-Alay and Kara-Kulja over the course of three days. The event celebrated the 25th anniversary of the AC Caravan’s cooperation between the United States and Kyrgyzstan.

Children participated in a wide variety of activities including a bracelet making class, a poster contest, children’s games, sports, and a book exhibition. Participants were rewarded with small gifts and certificates for their participation. Local performers came to put on a concert for the children.

There were over 300 participants in attendance ranging from elementary aged children as well as their mothers and a few older aged children. This event served to increase interest in English language education as well as promote a cross-cultural friendship between Kyrgyzstan and the United States. The children enjoyed spending time with each other and creating posters demonstrating the friendship between the two countries.
