Fellow in Qingdao Shares Creative Classroom Activities with Middle School Teachers

Fellows Kevin Sprague and Jenna Thompson visited Qingdao Economic and Technical Development Zone Foreign Language School in Qingdao, Shandong province. They were invited by the school’s faculty to conduct a 1-day teacher training for 13 middle school teachers.

The fellows ran 4 different workshops in the following categories: Speaking and Listening Activities, Reading Activities, Should I Use Games in the Classroom, and Rubrics and Portfolios. The workshops allowed the teachers to participate in activities and discuss ways they can adapt the materials to their respective classrooms.

The workshops also provided the opportunity for cross-cultural dialogue centering on approaches to education and teaching techniques. During the discussions many teachers commented that the activities were very useful and practical for their classrooms.
