Fellow Leads Professional Development Workshop for Primary School Teachers in Tachileik, Burma

English Language Fellow Jennifer Miller led primary school teachers in a series of professional development workshops focused on child centered learning and English language teaching for primary age students.  The workshops were requested by an Access student alumni, Nang Aye Aye Htun, who is now the principal of the Sun Moon Light Primary School in Tachileik, Burma.

The teachers then planned and implemented their own lessons based on what they learned during the workshops. While the teachers conducted activities, Miller provided them with immediate feedback and helped them model new methods and adapt activities to fit their students needs. This helped to create a more student centered approach to learning and practicing English. Also, the teachers became more familiar with how to use the American English website and were provided with a flash drive full of teaching materials. Participants were excited to gain access to a wide variety of new teaching resources.
