Fellow Leads Workshops in Vinnytsia, Ukraine

Thirty third and fifth year students from Chernivtsi National University were selected to participate in ten hands-on workshops to introduce them to best practices in communicative language teaching. Thaddeus McCleary, English Language Fellow in Vinnytsia, Ukraine, led the workshops and built a web app to foster a hybrid learning platform and community to extend beyond the training week.

Each session followed a lesson plan, beginning with setting lesson goals and leading into activities for all language skill areas and types of assessment. Using the web app, participants completed parts of their sample lesson plans each day, applying ideas and experiences from each day’s workshops, and finally making them available online at the end of the week for peer review.

The response from participants and instructors at the host institution was enthusiastic, and students requested follow-up and continued dialogue with the Fellow via the online platform.
