Fellow uses the universal language of music in Ukraine
English Language Fellow Emily Magaziner used the universal language of music and organized a concert to welcome Ukranian teachers and students to the English Teaching Resource Center at the U.S. Embassy Kyiv. A local string quartet performed a number of classical and contemporary selections, while Emily gave commentary on the geographical, historical, and cultural contexts of each of the songs. Most notably, Magaziner shared information about the African American composer and pianist Scott Joplin, the Boston Pops Orchestra, and the 1964 arrival of the Beatles in New York City.
