English Language Specialist Crystal Bock Thiessen recently conducted a series of workshops in Ukraine on these four topics:
- Team teaching – Bock Thiessen led a workshop on the challenges and solutions surrounding team teaching and helped Peace Corps volunteers develop a manual highlighting models and techniques.
- The fundamentals of English language teaching methodology – This training workshop focused on helping new teachers create more learner-centered and communicative classrooms.
- English Access program – At a Ukrainian summer English camp, Bock Thiessen worked with Access teachers and helped implement an “English Bucks” system that rewarded students based on their English use throughout the day.
- Teacher development – Bock Thiessen presented sessions on EFL methodologies and using photography and video to supplement English as a Foreign Language teaching.
