Specialist Presents at English Teaching Symposium in Northeastern Brazil

English Language Specialist Stephanie Hanson presented at the Braz-TESOL (Rio Grande do Norte chapter) English Language Teaching Symposium in Natal. About 130 English teachers from around Brazil’s northeastern region registered for the day-long event. Hanson facilitated a morning workshop on “Quick and Easy Speaking Activities,” and she gave the closing plenary, entitled “What Might Come After the Millennials.”  In both presentations, attendees learned about student-centered communicative activities to best meet their students’ English learning needs.

This event allowed more English education outreach in Brazil’s northeast, a region lacking in many educational and financial resources. The presentations helped to promote economic development and also promoted democratic values by providing participants with student-centered teaching methodology.  Finally, participants learned about resources available through the Department of State, and left the event enthusiastic and eager to use new strategies in their own classrooms.
