Thai Nguyen Fellow Conducts Secondary Teacher Training in Vonhai District

English Language Fellow Karyl Petit led a teacher training workshop in the Vonhai District of Vietnam. Twenty-nine secondary English teachers gathered together for a training on communicative speaking and listening techniques.

Petit led the training using activities she developed from the 7th grade textbook. Discussions centered on the best ways to engage students and also how to hold them accountable for their own learning. Participants had the opportunity to model different teaching techniques and practice implementing the new activities. In this mountainous district there are very few workshops, so participants were happy to get involved and learn new teaching strategies.
