University of Jordan Students Learn ‘What’s Next’ After Graduation

Nearly 200 university students from the Applied English Department at the University of Jordan attended a presentation aimed at helping students discover what’s next after graduation. The presentation, entitled “After graduation, what’s next? Exploring academic and professional opportunities” included two guest speakers from the US Embassy who discussed the exchange programs they offer, as well as the process for applying to graduate programs in the United States. The Chair of the Linguistics Department, Dr. Ghaleb Rababah, also spoke about current job opportunities available to students after they graduate.

English Language Fellow Emily Clymer organized this event because many of her students dream of obtaining a master’s degree from the United States or participating in a foreign exchange program. Many of her students have felt lost when thinking about their futures, but participants who attended this event received a lot of relevant information about these possibilities. Attendees remarked that they enjoyed getting real answers from experts, and that they now feel more prepared to apply for programs in which they are interested.
