A Case Study in ESP: Content-based Instruction for Disaster Management

2021 Specialist Master Class

In this Specialist Master Class, English Language Specialists Alicia Brent and Lisa Donohoe share their experience in developing an ESP course using a content-based instruction (CBI) approach for teaching English Communication for Disaster Management (ECDM). To receive a course certificate, participants complete a final project in which they write an elevator pitch for potential stakeholders to convince them to launch an ESP course on a topic and for an audience of the participants’ choosing.
