About

The English Language Programs are funded entirely by the U.S. Department of State. However, the connection goes far beyond money. Regional English Language Officers (RELOs) placed in embassies around the world are there to support Fellows and Specialists while they are abroad. Many participants even put on events directly with the U.S. Embassy in their country.

As participants in a U.S. government exchange program, Fellows and Specialists are representatives and cultural ambassadors of the United States. Through all their actions, both professional and personal, they personify the U.S. Department of State’s public diplomacy mission abroad to promote mutual understanding between the United States and foreign countries.
